David Gordon
David Gordon (piano) plays in the award winning Theo Travis Band, which has released three CDs, played Ronnie Scott's London and appeared at various international jazz festivals. David also worked as a solo improviser, both in performance and at the London Contemporary Dance School. In addition, he is a harpsichordist, and has toured Europe and South America with various Baroque orchestras, and in Australia and New Zealand as a recitalist. As a composer, he writes not only for the trio, but also has had work broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and recorded on CD with his cross-over band Respectable Groove.
"a richly gifted player, with a sparkling style and boundless imagination, able to move from one mode to another with great skill" - "a seemingly limitless store of fresh lines, witty and emotive by turns". Phil Johnson of The Independent
We thought you would like to read a letter recently received here from Japan...........
I am not a Jazz fan at all but I just happened to go to the Jazz room at HMV in Yokohama Japan to get a Pat Metheny disk, they were playing Dozen A Day there. I had no idea what I was hearing but I just loved it and got a copy right there. I still have no idea who David Gordon is and what he does or has been doing, but the album is surly GREAT!! Again, I have to make a stress that I am not a jazz fan at all and I usually listen to light pops..... stuff like Carpenters, my favourite, Sarah Machlachlan, Enya and that sort of music. But I am TOTALLY in love with this Dozen A Day and could not help visiting your site as well as to give you a feedback.
By the way, is any of the record company in Japan releasing your disks? If you do have an associate here, please do let me know. I would very much like to call them and tell them how great this album is. If you do not, let me know if you would like to find one. As I work in the music industry in Japan, I may be able to help your shopping.
Anyway, I had my 4 year old son listen to Mister Sam, he just loved it! He pretended like he was playing the piano and drums at the same time! It was real cute. I look forward to his forthcoming releases.
