Mike Hatchard
Mike Hatchard (and his alter ego Marvin Hanglider) has emerged as a musician with a rare talent to truly entertain. Few successfully combine such technique and musicianship with comedy and real humour. He has an easy, affable style of presentation which immediately charms his audiences, creating an atmosphere of expectation from the moment he steps on stage.
Mike began his performing career playing piano with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Since then his career has been incredibly varied; a composer (finalist for the Vivian Ellis Prize and works recorded by the Northern Saxophone Quartet and Beverley Davison); a pianist (accompanying such great singers as Cleo Laine, Salena Jones, Maxine Daniels, Tina May, Jenny Darren, Matt Monro, Julia Migenes and Vic Damone); cabaret (Madame Tussaud's, The King George V Hotel, Paris, IBM Centre Brussels and at the Oberoi, New Delhi and Bombay). He has performed his one man show at the Purcell Room, The Edinburgh Festival and at numerous theatres including the River Side Barn, The Atheneum, Lyric Hammersmith, The Stables, Brighton Pavilion, Stratford Royal, Falmouth Arts Centre, Jersey Arts Centre, Epsom Playhouse, Holyhead Arts Centre, Gardener Theatre, De La Warr Pavilion and Komedia.
Mike is now combining a return to his classical roots (performing solo piano recitals) with his undoubted talent as a jazz man and has recently forged a new duo with bassist Herbie Flowers.
