Angel Feet

The David Gordon Trio
David Gordon - Piano

Angel Feet is a landmark in the trio’s development, and their particular style of jazz features Celtic, ‘acoustic groove’ and classical – even baroque – influences, and also includes the appearance of a tango and a rhumba.

DDD Total Time = 57:28 / Recorded by Matt Butler at Chapel Lane Studio, Hereford, 5-6 December 2002

The David Gordon Trio was formed in 1995 and has made several tours of the UK and Denmark, including concerts at the Copenhagen Jazzhouse and the Aarhus Jazz Festival. Saxophonist Andy Sheppard and singer Jacqui Dankworth have appeared as guests with the trio.

The trio consists of UK pianist David Gordon, Danish double bassist Ole Rasmussen and US-based drummer Paul Cavaciuti. Together, they have a readily identifiable sound, and their music combines accessibility and groove with cutting edge improvisation, reflecting the group’s diverse backgrounds.

Angel Feet is a landmark in the trio’s development, and their particular style of jazz features Celtic, ‘acoustic groove’ and classical – even baroque – influences, and also includes the appearance of a tango and a rhumba.

This record is dedicated to the memory of Jerry Underwood, who has always been an inspiration to me.  I would also like to thank the wonderful team of Rob Andrews at Chapel Lane and the extraordinary Matt Butler, who allowed the making of this record to run so smoothly.  Thanks also to the loyal band of promoters and music-lovers who have supported the trio over the years.
